District Email Settings

The following settings will configure your smart phone to send and receive email through the SRSD Email server.

Some phones will not send regardless of what settings are used.  This appears to be a problem with specific phones and there is nothing we can do to correct it at this time. There may be software updates that correct the problem in the future.  Please contact your service provider for support with these issues.

Given the variety of different phones and email software we cannot provide step by step instructions for configuring email.  Please check the user manual provided with your phone or ask your service provider for assistance.

If your phone offers the ability to configure your email as an Exchange account you can also use these settings to accomplish that task. This has been troublesome on some phones and does not always work. However, it is possible with some devices.

Additional Options: If your phone offers the ability to configure your email as an Exchange account you can also use these settings to accomplish that task. This has been troublesome on some phones and does not always work, although, it is possible with some devices. We do not actually run Microsoft Exchange, we run the Zimbra Collaboration Suite. Zimbra offers Exchange capabilities, but does not support all features. Possible settings are outlined below.

You will need to use the "Manual Setup" option because you need to specify the server name.

Email Address: Type your district provided email address.
Username:
If your email address is jdoe@sau17.org , your username would be jdoe)

Exchange Server Address: zimbra.sau17.org
Exchange Domain Name: sau17.org

Use SSL Encryption: Yes

If this does not work the first time, make sure that you verify that the Exchange Server Address is set to "zimbra.sau17.org" not "sau17.org". This has been identified as the most common problem during testing.
